What is a Home Video Tour?

A Home Video Tour is a short online advertisement for your home, with photos, background music and a voiceover.

It can include:
Professional script
Voice over with a description of the home
Background music

All of this is available in an online video that’s live on the web 24/7.

By combining moving images, a voiceover that describes all of the features of the home in detail, and background music that actually works with the individual style of the home, a Home Video Tour functions as a property infomercial in a way that sets it above 360 degree ‘virtual tours’ and static photos.

Why is video such a fantastic marketing tool?
Online marketing specialists say that 2006 is the year of the video. With the strong rise in the popularity of high speed broadband internet access across Australia, online video is becoming fast and accessible to many potential buyers. In this environment, real estate marketing that lacks the impact of a full multimedia experience is seen as bland and second rate.

A Home Video Tour works by providing the complete online experience for your buyers. According to the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, video is 72% more effective than print, and it can hold a viewer’s attention up to 18 times longer than still photos alone. All up, that makes online video a powerful marketing tool that you can use today.

Who can see it?
Our Home Video Tours use Adobe Flash to deliver the video to the viewer, and since Flash is already installed on 98% of all desktops there is generally no need for any further downloads in order to view the videos.

Viewer questions

How do I watch the video?
The video won’t start playing until you click on the ‘Play’ button. So turn up the volume on your speakers, hit ‘Play’, sit back, and enjoy!

Why can’t I see the video?
Adobe FlashIt’s possible that you don’t have Flash installed on your computer. Flash is a free plugin that is used by many websites to deliver great digital experiences, so it’s well worth getting. If you would like to download Flash, click here, follow the instructions, and then head back to the video you wanted to see.

Agent questions

How do I incorporate a Home Video Tour into my marketing programme?
If you are using realestate.com.au or one of the other online real estate portals, it’s possible to add a link within your online listing to an external video tour or virtual tour. We’ll email you the link, add that to your listing, and you’re done. For further information you would need to speak with customer support at the appropriate web site.

It’s also possible to directly embed a video into your own or your company site. At the base of the player, click on the icon that looks like this: <>. When you place your mouse over the top it will say, “Get HTML to embed player”. Click on that, then click on “Copy Code”, and paste the code into the area on your site where you want the player to appear.

How much does it cost?
